I loved seeing Kim backstage at the Create and Cultivate event, but what I loved even more was hearing her motivational and encouraging words. What I took from her Create and Cultivate keynote is to stop being lazy and inconsistent. Inconsistency can very well be why your blog, podcast, or business isn’t taking off like you would like it to.
We all know how detrimental laziness can be when starting or maintaining a brand. Kim also spoke about excuses and how every single person on the face of the earth has something that can very well fuck up their day, but real bosses find ways to overcome adversity. I was in awe because I felt like she was speaking directly to me. Not only was I lazy when it comes to building my brand, but I was also inconsistent and found ever excuse in the book for all of my shortcomings.
I recently went through this “Age of Enlightenment” period of my life in the beginning of 2018. During this period, I suddenly became aware of my potential, my talent, and my calling. I felt myself giving up on my dreams and settling for mediocre; something I vowed to never settle for. I put my AirPods in, turned on the “Sounds of Nature” Pandora channel, and vowed that today was the last day of allowing me to stop me from chasing my dreams
Need help getting of your lazy, excuse filled, inconsistent funk? Here are my 3 go to tips:
1. Remember why you started!
Remember when you first started your brand and you were so inspired, motivated, and eager to began building on it? Keep that same energy! Always remember why you started building the brand in the first place. I remember I started to take the “Myleeza Kardash” brand serious after I went home to my hometown of Bogalusa and little kids ran up to me like I was some type of superstar. Seeing their little eyes beam with awe made me realize that this shit is so much bigger than me. I started to take things serious when I realized how much my city needed a role model that wasn’t a drug dealer or Soundcloud rapper. Every time I get ready to give up, I think about the children in my community.
2. Get organized!
I’m really being such a hypocrite right now because I’m definitely not the most organized person in the world, but I do what I can. After I realize that the only person getting in the way of me fulfilling my goals was me, I began to write out all of goals. I said I wanted to totally revamp my website equip with a Myleeza Kardash store, start back doing podcasts, a new logo, resume, and digital business cards. As I wrote down these goals, I also wrote the excuse that I will most likely use to stop me from achieving the goal. Lastly, I wrote down a rebuttal that will block that excuse. For example, my go to excuse is that I’m too sleepy. My rebuttal was to take some melatonin around 6 pm and be in bed by 7pm so I can wake up energized the next day. I knew that this would be the only way to stop me from stopping me.
3. Ask for help! I promise you can’t do this 100% on your own.
Now, I still have a problem with this myself because I’m so damn stubborn, but please don’t be scared, shy, or embarrassed to ask for help. I know we all want that “I got it on my own” fairy tale story, but shit lets be real, everything doesn’t work out that way. Don’t be afraid to ask your friend to look over your resume or ask one of your older mentors if her job is hiring. The Ying Yang Twins said “Closed mouths don’t get fed”, so why sit there and starve when you know someone that can get you into the all you can eat buffet? I know, I know. Your pride won’t let you make that call or send that text asking for help, but some times you have to put your pride to the side in order to reach your full potential.
I hope this helped you regain your inspiration and gets you back on track!
