If you didn’t know, my official “Girl, That Damn Myleeza” shirts are officially LIVE in the Myleeza Kardash Store!
A lot of people have asked me “Why did you put Girl, That Damn Myleeza on the shirts instead of Myleeza Kardash? Where did Girl, That Damn Myleeza even come from?”
Picture it, Bogalusa, Louisiana 1994 *Sophia Petrillo’s voice from Golden Girls*.
In my culture, both the Black culture as well as my southern culture, old people say “Girl That Damn ______” as a compliment. It’s basically saying “Ok girl! I see you! You doing the damn thang!” I’ve heard “Girl That Damn Myleeza” damn near all of my life, so when I was thinking of a name for my podcast, literally the first thing that came to my mind was “Girl, That Damn Myleeza!”
I originally made it the name of my podcast, but I loved the name so much, I decided to expand it by getting a logo made for it and put it on shirts!(Sidenote: The podcasts will return in a few months. I teach at a high school right now, and I don’t want my nosey ass students who stalk me to listen to how Miss Mingo REALLY gets down okurrrrr!) My best friend Joiya has a graphic design business so she created the logo in no time! Check her out on Instagram if you want a logo or anything else for your business @ArtinistaDesigns
The reason why I didn’t put “Myleeza Kardash” on shirts is…well for one… because I didn’t want Miss Kris Jenner coming for my ass! Secondly, I think “Girl That Damn Myleeza!” pays homage to my culture and all of the people that raised me. My grandma, aunts, cousins, and people in the community always say “Girl, That Damn Myleeza!” so in a way I feel like I’m thanking them and they’ll always be with me no matter where I go.
For those of you that have purchased a shirt or won one through my contest, I seriously cannot thank you enough! I get so nervous anytime I step out on faith and release or launch something new because I don’t think that many people would like/support it. Boy was I wrong! The shirts are selling out super fast! I gave Kim one in black when I saw her in LA and she loved it! All of the shirts come with thank you cards and a note from me personally thanking you. Your support means so much to me!
I hope you better understand where “Girl That Damn Myleeza” comes from and I hope I convinced you to cop a shirt!
